That’s when I entered the world of early learning
as not just a parent but as someone who wanted to
make a difference helping schools do a better job
serving parents and families. I wanted to help child
care center directors and owners be better leaders, to
build better teams of educators inside their four
walls. So, I brought my two decades of small business
skills to the market.
Since that time, I have worked as a coach and
trainer one-on-one with hundreds of early education
leaders, and I’ve spoken in front of audiences in the
thousands. My team and I have written six top-selling
books on child care business topics, including leader-
ship, mindset, and marketing. But more important
than all of that, at the end of the day, I’m my kids’
mom. And they look to me to protect them and make
the best choices on their behalf.
Fast forward to today, my kids are now grown and
in college. And what I discovered by actively working
in the child care industry since 2008, is that there IS
a difference among programs. There are many factors
to consider besides just price and location—things
like safety, cleanliness, outdoor play, teacher longevi-
ty, curriculum, and parent communication. The
investment you make in your child’s early education
actually has a tremendously important impact on
their future success.
