CHOOSING A CHILD CARE CENTER

educational skills will be important for them moving
forward. A holistic view of the world around them is
extremely useful both in childhood development and
              adult processing.
Often, other activities are included designed to
expand a child’s development and horizons, includ-
ing yoga, Spanish lessons, and sign language. Learn-
ing these skills at a young age builds strong bodies
and minds, helping children grasp other languages
quicker as they grow, while also encouraging memory
              skills and cultural enrichment.

This philosophy thrives on open-ended learning
that has no end goal or agenda. A teacher is not
disguising work as a game; instead, he or she is
allowing children to discover and experiment on their
own. This includes trying, failing, and natural conse-
quences as part of the learning experience. True play-
based learning does not look for any particular
outcome, but rather focuses on enjoying the process
and letting children direct themselves towards the
facets of the world they’re interested in learning more
              about.
                 A play-based education is completely self-chosen
and self-directed. While an adult might encourage or
suggest play, they go no further in telling the child
what to do. Children are driven by their interests
rather than a lesson or plan. This model equips
