children with curiosity and motivation that will serve
them well later in life. While work disguised as play
can be an amazing tool and certainly has a place, it is
not the same thing as play-based learning!
Rather than a teacher-centric educational experi-
ence, a play-based program is child-centric with
teachers functioning as facilitators of learning rather
than directors asking children to follow their lead.
This method develops leadership and social skills
with academics built into play experiences.
